Reading
Students will be reading, reading, reading this year. Students will be fine tuning
their comprehension skills this year for both fiction and non fiction. Reading without
understanding is not reading. Students will be taking the 3rd Grade Ohio Reading
Achievement Test this fall. The majority of this test is comprehension.
Writing
Students will be expanding on their current author skills. I will help each student to
be the best authors they can be.
Math
There is a fairly large leap for math this year. Students will advance their thinking
skills in problem solving. It's not enough to just be right. Students will have to
constantly explain their thinking. Each student will be taking the 3rd Grade Math
Achievement Test this spring.
Science
Major courses of study will be Earth Sciences and Life Sciences.

Major courses of study are Geography, Economics, Government, and Citizenship.

The Shining Stars are Developing Stage Learners.

Building Community
We will be focusing the beginning of the year building our
classroom community. This is not only part of the
developing stage Social Studies curriculum, but important to
learning. I foster a close classroom community where all
members of the class are important and I will do
everything to nurture each individual as a unique learner.
